Shimba Hills National Reserve

Rolling Hills covered in jungle and grasslands make the Shimba Hills a top destination for bird watchers. Shimba Hills is a small nature reserve located only 60 Km from Mombasa Town. Its proximity from Mombasa, plus its location of only 15 kilometers inlands to nearby Diani and Tiwi beach make it a great option to visit by holiday makers. Containing rainforest, woodlands and grasslands the reserve’s wild animals are not easy to be seen, though 700 Elephants, Buffalo, Giraffe and elusive Sable Antelope live in the small park bordering to Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. Shimba Tree Lodge is known for its wildlife viewing at night at the nearby saltlick.
